We were delighted to be appointed as lead planning and technical designers to extend and fully restore this stunning period property in St Peter Port, dating back to the late 1800’s.
Having been extended and altered over the years the building had clear signs of timber decay and distortion throughout. We recommended that the internal fabric of the building be replaced with a more robust structure to ensure the longevity of the building.
Working closely with our clients and specialist consultants throughout the design process allowed us to make considered decisions to achieve an exciting brief including:
- Forming a fully habitable basement
- Replacing and replicating all original timber windows
- Internal re-design throughout the main house
- Demolishing extensions and forming new single storey extensions sympathetic to the existing south wing
- External upgrades across the property
Proposed floor layouts for the house evolved from structural considerations and are now newly designed within the original four walls. The accommodation consists of ensuite bedrooms and a generous master suite all above formal areas, a reception bar, music room, snug and TV lounge. Leading naturally through to the new extensions, the kitchen, dining area, utility/boot room and gymnasium have been designed to flow towards the west facing lawn.
High specification finishes will create a contemporary version of the original Georgian style throughout the internal spaces. Coupled with the physical restoration, this Open Market property will be lifted up to modern standards.
With Planning and Building Control permissions gained within good time, pre-construction information has now been developed and we look forward to working with the project team throughout the construction phase.
