Overview

Designed to create a spacious and minimalistic extension for a growing family, this single storey, flat roof addition provides a seamless transition from indoor to outdoor environments through a large opening spanning seven metres.

The orientation of the extension coupled with the large glazed elements facing south, allow for maximum levels of natural light and sunlight to be provided.

Removing the kitchen from the main house and relocating it within the extension allowed us to reconfigure the existing layout to provide new storage areas and sanitary accommodation to compliment and flow into the new living spaces, specifically designed to meet our client’s brief.

The project was delivered on site by Tom Holland of Castle Construction, the superstructure comprising blockwork cavity walls and externally finished in smooth sand cement render painted white. Double glazed casement windows and large sliding doors, framed in anthracite grey powder coated aluminium provide contrast against the external wall finishes and marry with the dark grey Alkor roof covering to the flat roof structure above.

A simple but effective design that was successfully taken through Planning and Building Control before being realised by Castle Construction.
