Designed in detail to meet our client’s needs and to reflect pre-planning advice. This single-storey extension was configured to wrap around the north-east corner of the property and work simultaneously with the existing building layout.
A curved wall design was introduced to ensure retention of natural light through the adjacent lounge window and also provide direct access to the raised terrace area.
The rear section of the extension was carefully set out to provide a new kitchen/dining space linking naturally with the existing spaces which now consist a snug and a play room. Precisely positioned openings within the flat roof and external walls now flood natural light into this stunning open plan living space. The side section of the extension was formed as a pitched roof to match the existing roof form and provide space for separate shower room facilities and a generous utility room accessed off the new kitchen.
The super-structure was constructed as a fully insulated timber frame package by Goubert Contractors. Externally, finished with smooth rendered walls, Alkor roofing membrane over the flat roof and up stands, dark grey roof tiles and new powder coated aluminium windows and doors presenting a very clean addition to the current dwelling.
An enjoyable design which was successfully taken through the construction phase to provide a perfect living environment for a young family.
