Dove cottage has been a real joy of a project and the substantial client brief was never an issue for the team. We assisted with the full renovation of the existing house, conversion of the existing garage, provision of a secondary entrance, extension of the domestic curtilage, creation of outdoor living spaces, the formation of a new oak frame garage, and alterations to the existing vehicular access.
Generous living spaces were renovated throughout the ground and first floor to a high specification. The large flat roof extension links the existing accommodation to a cinema/playroom and a new garage. It has an attractive secondary ‘boot room’ entrance, and the contrasting material used beautifully breaks up the visual aspect.
The constraints and opportunities to improve the site’s potential were explored and carefully considered to meet our client’s wishes. The planning approval to extend the domestic curtilage meant that there was flexibility to improve the immediate outdoor living spaces. This area – directly off the inside accommodation – is now the perfect sun trap, made up of an outdoor swimming pool, spa, terrace and storage buildings.
The contractor was able to deliver the project smoothly because it was professionally designed and detailed to gain the necessary approvals. We are delighted for our clients who have thoroughly enjoyed their first full summer in this fantastic property.
