New Builds

Multigenerational luxury living – JGA was tasked with creating a new dwelling with an accompanying dower unit and separate garage for the multigenerational needs of our client.

This modern, multi-level dwelling exemplifies the seamless integration of sustainable design, innovative architecture while focusing on solving the challenges multigenerational homes can bring. Spanning three stories – basement, ground and first – it combines functionality, elegance, and environmental responsibility to meet the ever evolving needs of our clients.

A self-contained dower unit ensures privacy and independence for elderly residents while maintaining close proximity to the main household. The home incorporates sustainable energy solutions, including solar slates discreetly integrated into the roof for renewable energy production, an air source heat pump for eco-friendly heating and a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system that guarantees optimal air quality and energy efficiency.

The design merges natural stone, rustic timber cladding, and expansive glazing, creating a contemporary aesthetic that blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Full height glass walls and large sliding doors establish a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing natural light to flood the interior while framing stunning views out across the West Coast.

The ground and first floors boast open plan living, dining and kitchen areas designed for both everyday use and entertaining, while a wraparound terrace extends the living space outdoors with ample seating and dining areas. The basement offers versatile functionality, while offering further entertainment zones. A separate multi-car garage complements the property to the west of the site, providing ample parking while maintaining the dwelling’s clean and uncluttered external design.

Accessibility was a key design consideration, with wide pathways, ramps and provision for a central elevator ensures effortless movement throughout the home for all generations.

JGA obtained planning permission for this dwelling, dower unit and garage in September 2024 and look forward to progressing this project to the next stages.
