The design preserves the charm and essence of the existing traditional cottage, while introducing modern elements that enhance functionality and comfort.
The project involves demolishing the existing derelict cottage and constructing a new cottage of similar size that retains the character of the original through its use of traditional stonework and pitched rooflines. The design seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, reflecting the vernacular aesthetic of the area.
A key feature of the design is the glazed link, which serves as a contemporary statement. This element connects the main cottage to a newly designed wing, providing a sense of openness and light while blending old and new styles. The glazed section allows for uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape and creates a visual break between the two parts of the home.
The new wing adopts a complementary yet distinct style, utilising timber cladding and expansive glazing to create a light-filled, modern living space. The design prioritises indoor-outdoor living with sliding glass doors that open onto a patio and garden, perfect for relaxation or entertaining. A covered balcony extends from the upper floor offering elevated coastal views.
Leafy Cove is a thoughtful reimagining of a derelict site, blending traditional and contemporary design elements to create a home that celebrates both the past and the future. The design respects its surrounding context while offering a modern lifestyle tailored to our clients needs.
We obtained Planning Permission for Leafy Cove in September 2024 and look forward to developing the detailed stages for this Project.
