Introducing Nathaniel

Nathaniel Jones joins JG Architecture for the summer during his break from Falmouth University where he is studying sustainable product design.

This paid placement is part of a new initiative by Creative Industries Guernsey – CIG Mentoring scheme.  This partners students who are studying creative subjects with creative industry employers to gain valuable experience whilst still at university.

While Nathaniel is with JG Architecture he’ll be getting involved in a number of projects across a number of industries including hospitality, recreation, tourism and domestic properties.

JG Architecture Director James Gavey welcomes Nathaniel for the summer.

“This is a great initiative from Creative Industries Guernsey and I’m pleased that JG Architecture is supporting it.  Nathaniel is doing really well and using the academic experience he’s gained so far at university and applying it to live projects.  Being able to mentor young Guernsey students is how we are going to encourage talent back to the island and is also a great opportunity to gain an insight into what future designers are learning now during higher education, particularly the incorporation of new technologies.  I also hope Nathaniel learns a lot and this helps him when he returns to university.”

As part of Nathaniel’s Sustainable Product Design degree he uses design probes and concept visioning to explore contextual issues and live briefs in a holistic way.  He will gain experience from live projects, working on CAD, developing 3D concepts and prototyping whilst at JG Architecture.
